FOUR STRONG OWEN ALSO VERY HAPPY

Never given to gushing comments, Owen McKenna is clearly very
happy with the way theDerby is
progressing for his four-strong team. And why wouldn’t he, with
three of his charges right up there at the very top of the
betting.
Previously a winner with Like A Shot back in 2004, McKenna
sounded very contented this morning when he said: “It’s going
alright now but there is a long way to go yet. But they are all
fine after their runs and that is always your worry”.
He obviously got quite a shock when Farley Turbo made a total
mess of the start and he is not sure what exactly happened.
Perhaps it was the trap six factor but he admits, “I was out in
the middle of the track and I couldn’t see. One of the owners
felt the dog had gone early and missed it but the main thing is
he qualified and he is okay after it. Blitz ran well and he
showed he handles trap four which he will be running from again
on Saturday. I couldn’t complain about his draw.
“But Thurlesbeg Joker has a tricky draw although it is not the
hardest heat. He has my other dog Burn Em Up on his inside in
two and I am hoping they don’t clash. The only other time he ran
from the inside was in his second ever race at Clonmel when he
was in one. He moved out wide from traps then and I am just
hoping he doesn’t do the same again. It would probably be better
if Thurlesbeg missed the start and avoided him. But that’s the
luck of the draw and we’ll just have to hope that both dogs
qualify”.

voitti oman eränsä toisella kierroksella..

Suomessa
juostaan Tampereella greyhoundien SM kisoja. Brittein saarilla
greyhoundväki valmistautuu maailman rahakkaimman kilpailun
Irlannin Derbyn toiselle kierrokselle.
Kilpailu juostaan Irlannin pääradalla Shelbourne Parkissa.
Alkuerissä oli mukana 144 koiraa. Alkueriä juostiin kolmena
päivänä ja alkueriä oli yhteensä 24. Palkintorahaa tässä
kilpailussa jaetaan tänä vuonna yhteensä 225 000 €.
Viime vuonna College Causewayn (Go Wild Teddy-College Tina)
voittaessa tuon kilpailun voittaja sai 175 000 € josta tänä
vuonna varmaan jäädään koska palkintorahat ovat pudonneet viime
vuotisesta lähes 100 000 €.
Viime vuonna
tässä kisassa oli mukana myöskin viime vuoden Suomen Mestari
Eija's Choise ja tänä vuonna onneaan on kokeilemassa Tsekkien
mestari Fenomen Co Co joka selvityikin toiselle kierrokselle
ollen omassa alkuerässään neljäs.
Alkuerissä
nähtiin jo yllätyksiä ja parikin suosikkia putosi jatkosta heti
kättelyssä. Mm. Hegart 600 Open voittaja Shaneboy Lee (Brett
Lee-Shaneboy Ruth) putosi jatkosta. Tätä koiraa pidettiin yhtenä
suurena voittajasuosikkina tässä kilpailussa.
Alkuerin
nopein koira oli Farley Blitz (Hondo Black-Blue Honey) joka
yhdessä veljensä Farley Turbon kanssa lukeutuu vedonlyöjien
suurimpiin suosikkeihin. Turbo oli alkuerien kolmanneksi nopein.
Kovasti riittää puhetta veljeksistä.

Kilpailut
jatkuvat tällä viikolla torstaina ja lauantaina juostavilla
lähdöillä. Kilpailussa juostaan viisi kierrosta ja 11. syyskuuta
on selvillä kilpailun voittaja.
Farley
Blitzillä kävi huono tuuri arvonnassa ja se joutui toiselle
kierrokselle erään jossa on mukana neljä alkuerävoittajaa jotka
kaikki juoksivat alle 29.90.
